Benefits of Dancing

Did you know, by simply training your body in so many different dance styles it can improve your health? By stretching and warming up it can enhance your body and mindset before actually dancing. Some may think it’s just steps that you put together and you perform, but there's really a process when you want to improve your health. You have to allow yourself to open up your mind and body for new things. When you feel comfortable about how you feel, dancers have to train/ exercise their mind to memorize the piece. In addition, I believe that doing these exercises can give a dancer the confidence to improve their health.

Together with training your brain, I believe dance can benefit your goal on physical health. With society's stereotypes, they have made many dancers feel as though they have to look a certain way to dance. When I talk about improving your physical health, I don’t mean you need to fit those stereotypes. I believe that you should train  to where you’re comfortable with yourself, and to where your body isn’t strained from the movements you do. This topic means the most to me, because as a kid I had a hard time accepting the way I looked. I felt that I had to look like every ballerina or I wasn't going to make it in the dance industry.  I’m passionate about dance, because I wanna help break those stereotypes that dancers try and fit.

Dance and Mental Health? Some may be confused on how these two correlate with each other. I previously mentioned that dance has helped me get through hard times and this is what I meant. Dance has helped many get out of their depression and anxiety by bringing others together and making friends with one another. These social interactions can simply help one forget about their hard times. I take dance as a form of therapy to help me improve my anxiety, and self-expression. Growing up I know many people that gain anxiety from speaking in front of people, but when it comes to dance that all disappears. I want to help dancers around the world to improve their self-expression, and make sure they have a safe place to go to when they’re going through rough patches in their personal life. Everyone deserves to feel free and beautiful in the world; Everything about dance will help fill those voids.
